What Customers Say About Humminbird 575 Fish Finder:

This units sounds great in its description. I have passed over some very large, visible rocks that are just off to one side of the boat in about 10 ft of water without the side images revealing any depth change. I like the quick-disconnect mount. I can count on one hand the number of times I've actually seen fish arches on this unit. I've fishing in pouring rain and this units keeps on ticking.Another thing to keep in mind is that this unit uses a quad beam transducer, which is not compatible with the built in transducers on most trolling motors - at least it wasn't two years ago when I purchased this unit. My Lowrance unit regularly shows well defined arches over the same areas this unit shows nothing. I especially love the idea of a 90 degree cone angle that's supposed to show bottom width equal to 2x the depth. However, in actual use, I have some issues with it. Rocks the sizes of SUVs should show a very noticeable bump in the side image when they're well within the cone angle.Other than those two issues, the unit has served well and seems to be reliable.
I have tried all sorts of various settings - contrast, brightness, sensitivity, filters, etc. to no avail. The other issue is with the two side images that are supposed to show you the left and right sides of the boat. The screen is easily visible in bright sun and the mount holds securely in any tilted position I've put it in. It uses a large transducer which may pose some problems when mounting to the bottom of a trolling motor.Good, but not quite as good as I expected it to be.
I mounted it on my pad like the instructions say, but the bracket broke at 30 mph and slammed the transducer around against the back of the boat. This thing broke the second time I had it out. Amazon is going to exchange it for me and send me a new one. Being able to read the bottom while moving fast is realy important to me and one of the reasons I bought this one. I tried regular transom mount and the thing would not read. Great CS from Amazon, the fish finder is good for the money, but I did not get to use it enough to know how great it is yet. I am going to try mounting the new one inside the hull if I can get it to pass the plastic bag trick.
This is the first more modern fish finder I have tried out. And pretty accurate once you figure it out. Good basic finder. Easy to view during the day or night. Easy to install. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a reliable fish/depth finder and doesn't want to drop alot of cash.
